Lets see that waist.

I was doing a research paper for English a few weeks ago and I did it on the lovely Coco Chanel. As i researched she was for a bit around the same time period as Christian Dior, my absolute favorite designer. I automatically noted that i think his 1950's silhouette is coming back. His famous "New Look" is back. I think it all started with these girly high waisted skirts we began wearing. Its basically the emphasis of the waist. Weather it be with belts, or corsets, or just the garment its self. Its very feminine and it shows of a little hour glass figure which is great. Here are some of his beginning designs of the 1950s.

The 3 bottom ones are a more modern take on this kind of trend. I think this very much leads to the sort of bell skirt silhouette. Who knows maybe we'll see of bunch of girls wearing big bell shape skirts soon.(: I honestly love the emphasis in the waist, I think its a great way to create curves and its very feminine which I like. So do love it, hate it? (:

  2. Oh my goodness! :D I love this style and got really excited when I started seeing this spread at school x3 Really, I love the emphasis on the waist and the way it accentuates the curves and, may I say, it is very romantic. I love every picture on this post and wish I could somehow obtain all of these outfits. As for the big bell skirt coming back, I doubt it xD But, hey, one can hope right? x3 Anyways, I love this style and wish to see more of it around!
